juvy

i have been officially labeled a disturber of the peace. thus, i shall post to my mom's heart's content.
well, we had a couple of gorgeous days here in WAAAAAH. and then yesterday it was pretty cool, as in cold-ish. I myself prefer the nice warm days, but at least it wasn't raining. :)
I finally got my Amazon texts off to the editor as of late saturday night. i could have probably sat there and nitpicked for a few more hours, but i was thoroughly sick of it, and probably as satisfied as i'll ever be.
what else....we saw a minor league game...the Tacoma Rainiers (which apparently is pronounced RainEERS, but i like to say Rainiers just to be annoying). They went into extra innings, but we didn't stay for the whole time, b/c Braden and his classmate were both pretty tired, having reported to clinical at 6:30am that morning. But the Rainiers did win 6-5.
We may go to Portland on Wednesday; apparently it's a little under 2 hours drive from here. It'd be really cool to stop by Gresham, seeing as I remember very little of it, if anything at all. I don't remember much before I was 7 1/2. Maybe Mrs. Ruth will still be terrorizing all 3rd graders. I remember being terrified I would get her, and relieved when we moved, b/c that meant I for sure wouldn't. She was SCARY.
we went to see the Seattle temple. It was pretty cool. Different from what I'm used to, but it was still very beautiful. They also had a distribution center right behind it, of which i availed myself.
there's also this place called Pike's Marketplace, which is a famous seafood market in Seattle, but we got there around 6:15pm, and it was closed for the day. so we'll go again sometime this week.
we also went to a Beatles' laser show...and i got us free tickets to another show with my music trivia knowledge. ah yeah. so they have a U2 one that we'll go to. the music is freaking loud, though. and we shared a recliner that they had in the middle of the theater, and when we got up at the end...it did not...un-recline. so we basically broke it. :) oops.
are you happy now???? and i'd like to point out that no one has been commenting on what i DID write. :)

don't call it a not-comeback-back

hey all,
sorry for the incommunicado-ness; i've been in WA and working like crazy on my literary translations. I just sent off my rough drafts to my professor to look over...now I can go sightseeing guilt-free tomorrow in Seattle, ah yeah.
i shall write more later...i've been inside ALL DAY, and for once it's not raining.

peace out.

all right, foLLLLKKs

hey everyone,

i know you've all been waiting with baited breath to hear who murdered Colonel Regoarrarr in the study with a bottle of French's mustard, and i've assembled you all together in one room but...I'm not going to tell you.

I'm breaking the week of kersilence, since finals are *finally* over, and I can somewhat breathe again. My first final was the crock that I thought it would be. I said I wanted to go first, and so I did. And it was raining so hard that in the back they couldn't hear me, but....careage. then close the windows, if you wanna hear me...jk. my voice doesn't exactly project that well, especially when i'm presenting in front of a roomful of people. The second final, the lit one, was LAAME-O, just like I predicted. I really like the prof, I think he's great and all that...but he always puts these complex questions that it takes hours and hours to even begin to scrape the surface of, and, lo, my hand did hurteth afterward. It took me not less than 3 hours, and I wasn't the last one done. grrrrrr. The third *final*, which was actually a take-home final project, was death by fire, but bright, rosy-colored, rippling waves of fire.

i'm leaving for WA in less than 2 days, as i commented on lecar, and i'll be there for the next few weeks. i got a translation job from my prof for a literary magazine, so i get to translate an academic paper and an Amazonian legend. it doesn't pay, but it's credited and looks great on a resume. it goes to press in June, so be sure and all buy a rockin' copy. :)

well, kevo has to get on here, so i'll be back later.

besides, we all know i'm training to be a cagefighter.

update before finals

so it's Mother's Day, and I would like to take this opportunity to say that my Mom's the awesomest mom ever!!! Love you, Mom!!

It's the beginning of finals week, and I have a final on Tuesday night, Wednesday afternoon-ish (it's flexible), and my final project due Thursday at 5pm. For the Tuesday one, I'm pretty much done; I just need to prepare my presentation a little bit and do some underlining of key points. From there, I can just BS... undergrad taught me pretty well. I'm meeting with my prof tomorrow to discuss my final project and stuff for my case study (our equivalent of a thesis), which will be due in a year. I want to get a head start on it and not be running around like crazy the weeks before it's due like many 2nd years have been doing. No thanks.
Then, my final on Wednesday I really don't care that much about.

I just got an email from the graduate coordinator regarding tentative assignments for who will be our advisor for the case study, and I got the prof I wanted!! I'm excited because I talk to him all the time anyway, and the other prof is...um, to put it diplomatically, scary and impossible to talk to. So, that's good news. I don't envy my classmates who got the other one.

I got a 2nd yr to agree to let me sit in on her case study defense this Friday, so I'm excited to see what kinds of questions the profs ask, etc. I'll go and take notes, in preparation for when I have to go through that in a year. I'm going to ask one of the Spanish students if I can sit in on hers on Thursday, because everyone else said no, and I want to at least sit in on ONE Spanish one. The other one is Russian, but it's localization, so it's relevant to what I would like to do.

I found out that we only need 6 credit hours to be full time in the summer, so I dropped my Flash workshop, since I already took one this semester. My other workshops will be on Adobe Photoshop, Macromedia Dreamweaver and Microsoft FrontPage. The first two will be brush-ups of programs that I've already had an introduction to, and the last one will be brand new. So they'll be cool, and hopefully I'll have time to teach myself the CAT (Computer Aided Translation)programs that we SHOULD have been taught this semester. I also want to start learning some localization programs, and start working on my case study, like I said before. But I have to choose it first! So I'll be really busy this summer. Plus, I want to get out and get some exercise!! I should be able to start jogging in a week and a half, but I also want to bike. I'll have to find some good trails and stuff around here. A few people are sticking around this summer, so it'd be fun to hang out some, too. busy, busy, busy. :)

Either Friday or Saturday I'm heading off to Prosperity, PA to the farm. Dad and Doug should be there, and I can't wait to see Grandma M; it's been close to a year since I saw her last. She's so much fun. :)

Man, it's gorgeous outside. What the heck am I doing in here??

it was a dark and...dark night...

some of you may be wondering why i haven't posted in a while. it's because i wear my underwear where it should be, so i have nothing to talk about.

peace out.

i'm just really t..O'D because, I mean, he hasn't even sent me a full body shot yet.

schtuff

i just talked to one of my friends in my lit class, and her paper ended up being more than 6000 words out of the "approximately 5000". Mine? A little over 4100, thanks to some LOOOOOOOOONG citations. approximately. pretty much, i care at this point, since i have so much other stuff to do.

i sort of started writing my final for my computer class. it's this scenario where it's been 5 yrs since my MA graduation, and a company wants to hire me to implement a state-of-the-art terminology management system, ie, with all the latest software and workstations. any ideas for what the company name should be and what they should sell? i'm open to suggestions, as long as they're not lame. :)

so i have a brand new pair of expensive running shoes, and the physical therapist put some orthopedics in both to help me walk correctly. he said my feet are too flexible, and the muscles on the outside of my legs get overworked easily. BUT, he did say that i would be able to run again!!! YAY!! that made my day. but for right now, i'm not supposed to be walking very much, and i don't know when exactly i'll be able to start running again. in the meantime, i can bike, swim and use an elliptical machine. looks like i'll be biking a lot this summer!!

so these things in my shoes are the temporary orthopedics...the permanent ones, as i mentioned in a previous post, cost over $200. regoarrarr. the temporary ones are not as comfortable, ie, it feels like there is an extra sock balled up in each of my shoes. good times. i'll just have to get used to it. unfortunately, i'm the kind of person that will take off my shoe ANYWHERE and at ANY time if i feel like there is something weird in it. on the other hand, i did walk around with one of Braden's notes in my shoe for at least 2 days without noticing. :) i can't believe i didn't feel it.

all right, back to homework.

annie

maybe far away, or maybe real nearby. he may be pouring her coffee...and subsequently making her break the Word of Wisdom. it's BAD, it's BAD.

so my Seinfeld Season 3 DVDs are defective...and these are the ones that are brand spanking new. in contrast to the USED season 1&2 which works perfectly. makeage-o. and since, i got season 3 as a gift, there's not much i can do about it. probs.

so i love when we have parties during work, b/c then i get paid to eat free food and not really do anything. there's a grad assistant/student worker appreciation party this Friday, which i happen to be working that day, otherwise no way would i go, just because of finals and stuff. but for this thing, i'll go for like an hour and then i'll be like, well, folks (pronounced the Dan way), sorry to eat and run, but it's 5pm...
